Inspirational Story: Life's Struggle

ENGLISH VERSION:

A man found a cocoon of an emperor moth. He took it home so that he could watch the moth come out of the cocoon. On the day a small opening appeared, he sat and watched the moth for several hours as the moth struggled to force the body through that little hole.

The moth seemed to be stuck and appeared to have stopped making progress. It seemed as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no farther. The man, in his kindness, decided to help the moth; so he took a pair of scissors and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The moth then emerged easily. But its body was swollen and small, its wings wrinkled and shriveled.

The man continued to watch the moth because he expected that, at any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to and able to support the body, which would contract in time. Neither happened! In fact, the little moth spent the rest of its life crawling around with a small, swollen body and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.

The man in his kindness and haste did not understand that the struggle required for the moth to get through the tiny opening was necessary to force fluid from the body of the moth into its wings so that it would be ready for flight upon achieving its freedom from the cocoon. Freedom and flight would only come after the struggle. By depriving the moth of a struggle, he deprived the moth of health.

Moral of The Story:

Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If we were to go through our life without any obstacles, we would be crippled. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. Give every opportunity a chance, leave no room for regrets, and don't forget the power in the struggle.

MALAY VERSION:

Seorang lelaki telah menemui satu kepompong yang mengandungi kupu² Emperor. Lelaki itu membawanya pulang ke rumah agar beliau dapat melihat kupu² tersebut keluar dari kepompong itu. Pada hari tersebut, satu rekahan kecil pun terjadi pada kepompong itu. Semasa kupu² sedang berusaha keluar daripada kepompong tersebut dengan penuh kesukaran, lelaki itu terus membuat pemerhatian berjam - jam lamanya.

Kupu² tersebut kelihatan seperti tersekat dan telah berhenti bergerak. Ia seperti kupu² tersebut telah mencuba dengan sedaya upayanya dan tidak mampu untuk melakukannya lagi. Diatas dasar belas kasihan, lelaki tersebut mengambil keputusan untuk menolong kupu² tersebut lalu dia mengambil sebilah gunting lalu memotong kepompong itu agar kupu² tersebut boleh keluar daripadanya. Kupu² dapat keluar dengan senang sekali. Akan tetapi, badan kupu² itu membengkak dan mengecil manakala sayapnya berkedut dan kering.

Lelaki tersebut terus membuat pemerhatian kerana sangkaannya pada bila - bila masa sahaja sayap kupu² akan mengembang dan mampu menampung badan kupu² tersebut. Akan tetapi, sangkaanya meleset. Tiada apa² yang berlaku! Kupu² kecil itu menghabiskan sepanjang hayatnya hanya dengan merangkak dengan badannya yang kecil, membengkak dan sayap yang kekeringan. Ia tidak dapat terbang.

Diatas dasar perikemanusiaan, lelaki itu telah menolong kupu² itu. Akan tetapi, kesukaran yang dihadapi oleh kupu² itu merupakan satu fasa yang harus ditempuhi olehnya untuk membolehkannya memaksa cecair di dalam badannya untuk mengalir ke sayap agar sayapnya itu mampu menampung badannya apabila ia bersedia untuk terbang selepas keluar dari kepompong tersebut. Kebebasan dan kebolehan untuk terbang hanya boleh dinikmati selepas menghadapi kesukaran. Dengan menolong kupu² tersebut menghadapi kesukaran, lelaki tersebut telah menjejaskan kesihatan kupu² itu.

Pengajaran:

Kadangkala kesukaran adalah sesuatu yang kita perlukan di dalam hidup. Sekiranya kita melalui hidup tanpa sebarang rintangan, kita akan pincang dalam hidup. Kita tidak akan menjadi lebih kuat untuk menempuhi hari² yang mendatang. Berikan peluang, usah menyesal dengan pilihan yang dilakukan dan jangan sesekali melupakan kekuatan di dalam sebarang kesukaran.
